Freakonomics: almost freaked me out

Recently, I have been reading 'Freakonomics', the acclaimed book by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner. This book picks up unnoticed but very unique questions and then tries to looks at them from a completely different perspective. The book investigates into each question like a detective, looking at every possible reason for that particular situation. I found this book to be very unique and thought provoking. The following discussions are my observations and responses to the different theories, that the book puts forth across the different sections of the book.

"Breakout"

Saturday, November 22 2008. Bangalore.

It all started yesterday night, when my “Friends (?)” ditched me for a party that “I” was organizing at “My” place. It was frustrating specially after all the preparations that I had done and all that boasting of the “Movie screening”. I had to console myself with the all-timer “Andaz apna Apna” and a bottle of Beer. Both of them were great.

I have been in Bangalore for the last four months but haven’t experienced the city yet. I still find myself alien to the city. I haven’t been able to sync with the frequency of the city; I decided to give it a shot.

Today morning I browsed though the event section of the Bangalore Times to find something interesting. I zeroed on an -Art exhibition- by a group of artists (Sudarshan Shetty, Srinivas Prasad, Zakkir hussain and Navin Thomas ) and the other one was the screening of-“Travelling Film SouthAsia 2008"- a series of 13 documentaries from Southasia”.

The "Breakout” came to a halt with the "Outbreak" of the Rain gods. They couldn’t stop me, empty stomach I reached St. Mark’s road for the Art Exhibition. I crossed this shady restaurant named Koshy’s. I find it shady because it hides the restaurant’s interiors by thick curtains, which gives an impression that there is something fishy inside. The other reason is that it stands no where close to its neighbor " Hard Rock Cafe".
My inhibitions couldn’t prevent my curiosity to explore the place. I was zapped, the moment I entered the place, my inhibitions were wrong. The place reminded me of Café Leopold (http://www.leopoldcafe.com) and Café Mondegar in Mumbai. The shady exteriors well hind the English styled interiors. It was a pleasant surprise!
The place was full of firanges, affluent people and a bunch of teenager girls, who were busy flashing their iphones and consuming beer like water. The food was great, specially the “Kerala style Kozhi Chicken curry”. It’s a nice place and worth visiting again. ***
